Happy Thanksgiving! Just sending this email out before the monthly newsletter to say have a good one! I’m also announcing the new Woman. Warrior. Writer. online store FIRST to my online newsletter people.
STORE: is here! There are hoodies and long sleeve/short shirts and T-shirt sales fund scholarships to my writing workshops. I want to provide opportunities for women to write and I need help doing this. Your merch purchase goes to this. My students come from a multitude of backgrounds and zoom in from all over the world. I teach with a global lens because we need to expand how we construct identity. There are many ways we can think of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and cultural belonging.
2023 WORKSHOPS: Master Narratives is a creative process class; Break: Write Your Divorce Story will give you a story structure for your legal/personal file—hey, it changed my life, I know it can change yours; Women’s Creative Writing Workshop rolls in March; Asian/Asian American Women’s Creative Writing Workshop is the ONLY one of its kind in existence! I have two spots now left for Intersectionality: Manuscript Workshop, but contact me for an interview and submission. Current students look like they will be finishing up their manuscripts in 2023.

THE JOB: These days I have been producing and filing stories for Hawai’i Public Radio. Please drop me a line if you have a story about Hawai’i you think deserves attention, and if you are heading over here and have something that connects to the community here—let me know!
HEALTH: What else? Not much. I’m back surfing again after a hiatus, first the accident, then I was really anxious post-accident, but now, I’m feeling good again! My left arm feels out of whack. I think I may have done something to a ligament? I’m popping a lot of vitamins. I’m using the CALM app, but only listening to the 1 minute ones with my Kid in the AM.
In general, though, I feel as if I am finally understanding this thing called LIFE a little better.
It will be a rather quiet Turkey Day as the Kid is going to California to see family. Here in Hawai’i there are mostly older folks—after his question: Mom, how come everyone keeps dying? I decided he needs younger family interaction.
I am so STOKED TO SEE JIMMY O’YANG! During COVID I watched comedians with the Kid. In particular, the ones that appeal to teenage boys, but I too enjoy them. Yes, I have seen all of the Kevin Hart specials…several times. In general, my Netflix viewing is mostly the stuff that teen boys like. When The Godfather came, he wanted to watch THE CROWN. It was the only time The Kid sat through one episode of that. After we all watched LAST CHANCE U.
